In this Esperanto grammar lesson, Alex explains how to talk about looking forward to something. English-speaking Esperanto learners have a tendency to borrow expressions that don’t really translate as well as they might think.
Your main takeaway should be that when you’re excited to go somewhere, be literal in describing your feelings. Don’t say “Mi ne povas atendi!” because people will think you literally can’t stick around instead of hearing that you’re simply excited and “can’t wait!” A great expression in Esperanto is “Mi antaŭĝojas!” which means you are “pre-enjoying” whatever you’re talking about. That’s how we say we’re excited and looking forward to it.
