This is a Christmas short film in Esperanto that I made to wrap up a very busy year of Esperanto filmmaking. 50 new scripted Esperanto short films were produced in 2025 for The American Good Film Festival of Esperanto-USA and I heavily helped with about a third of them. The actress in this film directed “Saluton, Belulino” for that contest and did a great job so I asked her to star with me in this one. We filmed it at her place which was already nicely decorated for the holidays. Our camera operators got lost for about an hour trying to get there so we ran out of time before getting to film an English version but I think it works best in Esperanto anyway. I like the reveal at the end that this film doesn’t just take place in a world where everyone happens to speak Esperanto. The fact that she speaks it is because she has decided to take part in her husband’s hobbies even though it took lots and lots of work to learn a language. Maybe he should not skimp then when it comes to buying her something nice for the holidays.
