The Desire for a Good and Sweet Fate: The greeting “Shana Tova U’metuka” is essentially a heartfelt prayer and wish for a positive outcome. “Shana Tova” (Happy/Good Year) is a wish for a good and successful year, while “U’metuka” (and Sweet) is a wish that the year will be filled with pleasant, sweet experiences, free from bitterness or hardship.
