Filmmakers and Esperanto speakers everywhere are encouraged to create a film for this year’s American Good Film Festival sponsored by Esperanto-USA. Don’t be shy! Even if it’s your first film ever, we’d love to see it! This is a great way to practice speaking Esperanto out loud and creating a piece of art you can look back on years later.
I’m posting this video the day after that event at the local library because it was a scramble to get things ready for that immediately after returning from Toronto. I typed out English subtitles for a 17-minute Esperanto documentary film in one hour and arrived right after another Esperanto speaker who had driven over an hour in order to be there.
I really don’t know if the film festival will happen again next year. Esperanto-USA wants it to keep happening and there has been financial support for it, but trying to find organizers who are willing and able to organize everything has proven the most challenging. Catie already told me this will be their last year hosting it and we don’t have a third host lined up yet. This might be your last chance to participate in this project which is already historically significant as the most successful film festival ever in a constructed language. If this is the last one, let’s make sure to go out with a bang.
Here’s the Telegram group for the festival where you can offer to help or ask for help with your film. I highly recommend having someone read over your script before you start filming to avoid making unnecessary mistakes.
