Priskribo
What if everyone on Earth spoke the same language?
In 1887, an eye doctor in Warsaw named Ludwig Lazar Zamenhof believed he had solved humanity’s oldest communication problem. His created language — Esperanto — was simpler, fairer, and ten times faster to learn than English. It failed anyway. This video runs the full thought experiment: what would actually happen if Zamenhof had succeeded and every human woke up tomorrow speaking one language?
The economics look incredible — trade jumps nearly 50%, hundreds of billions are recovered from translation costs, and science finally becomes a level playing field. But then we count what gets deleted: 7,000 living languages, each one a different way of training the human mind. And even if we unified tomorrow, history says it wouldn’t last. Latin already tried.
