I had an all-day excursion today led by Brandon Sowers where we visited a sanctuary for wild bison and elk before visiting a beautiful monastery and then tried out a local brewery. I left my nicer camera equipment at the house where I’m staying and that freed me up to make friends with the gentleman who sat next to me on the bus, Doktoro Suzuki Keiichiro from Japanio.
D-ro Suzuki explained to me the meaning of his family name Suzuki in Japanese (laŭ li, tintilo/rizo plus arbo) and told me about his family members who own breweries and a Peruvian restaurant and how he first found out about Esperanto while reading a newspaper article when he was 29. He lived in the US for a while but since returning to Japan, his Esperanto skills have surpassed his English ones and that meant we really were better off getting to know each other without either of our national native languages slowing the other person down.
Ĉi tiu estas mia unua Universala Kongreso kaj mi multe ĝuas la sperton. Ĉiu tago prezentas al mi ion novan kaj interesan kaj mi daŭre trovas novajn amikojn. Mi ne havas tempon por aldoni subtitolojn ĝuste nun ĉar la mateno baldaŭ alvenos ĉi tie kun novaj partoprenindaj programeroj. Mi dankas al tiuj, kiuj bonege organizis la eventon kaj al la volontuloj kiuj ebligas kaj glatigas aferojn ĉi tie ĉiutage.

If you haven’t seen the Blade movies before, the first two are great and the third one is only worth watching because it happens to use a lot of Esperanto.
