About this video:
The 37th Esperanto Community Seminar was held from 29 April to 2 May 2019. Before that was the Asia-Oceania 9th Esperanto Congress from 25 to 29 Aprill 2019, which we also attended. Both were held in the beautiful city of Danang, in Vietnam.

These two were my first Esperanto conferences and I was nervous about going as I had only done 2 online Esperanto lessons before the trip. (Before this, it was years of trying to learn Esperanto by “osmosis” and “naturally”, which did not work, lol.)

Hearing the Esperanto language spoken around me the whole day , for almost 9 days in a row, coupled with the 2 onlines lessons I had pre-trip, I was actually able to grasp part of the conversations going on around me, as well as take part a little in them!

Post-trip, alas after the first few weeks of making a conscious effort to speak to my husband (‘edzo’ in Esperanto) in smatterings of Esperanto during our daily conversations, old habits and efficiency to cope with daily life and work took over.

Now, slightly more than 3 months after the conferences, I realised to my dismay while doing this interview, that I have forgotten almost all the Esperanto words I had picked up from my online lessons and trip! I did not even get many of the pronunciations correct. Therefore, I had added subititles to my part of the interview, for clarity.

Transcript for my part, and translation:
What is your experience in the Community Seminar?

Ĝi estis mia unua sperto partopreni kiel komencanta lernanto. Ĉiu estis komplezema al mi. Dankon.
Generally, the young, fun-loving and united organisers gave us a fun, meaningful and full programme. It was my first experience participating as a beginner learner. Everyone was kind to me. Thank you.

What did you enjoy most in the Community Seminar?

I liked participating in the programme with my husband, trying to speak and absorb the language of Esperanto, and seeing the excited responses of the other participants to the app game by my husband. It is called Konjekt Konekto and you can try it (by downloading from) Google Play or Googling (for the web version).

3. Kiel vi sentis post la Komuna Seminario? How did you feel after the Community Seminar?

I felt that it was a good experience. I need to practise my Esperanto so that I can better interact in the next meeting.
